Meet the Team

Heather Madsen, PMHNP-BC,FNP-C
Owner, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Hello! We are glad you found Finding Peace Psychiatry and look forward to working with you.

I would love to share a little about myself. I initially obtained my bachelor's degree and master's degree in psychology. I worked in various levels of mental health including inpatient hospitalization, outpatient therapy, and community based mental health treatment. I continued my education and obtained my BSN degree. I spent over ten years in critical care and emergency medicine before returning to my mental health roots. I went on to obtain my MSN degree as a family nurse practitioner and then my post-master's certification in psychiatric mental health. I have owned my practice for 4 years and thoroughly enjoy this work. I feel that my background allows me the ability to look at the full picture of mental health needs and provide individualized care.

Of course, I also enjoy my time outside of work. I am an avid dog rescuer. I currently have 7 rescue dogs, most of which are hospice or special needs. I also enjoy traveling anywhere sunny and warm, especially when it's cold in Pennsylvania!

Charlotte Swerdon, PMHNP-BC
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

Hello! I look forward to working with you and would like to share a little about myself. My nursing career began at the bedside, where I gained experience in a variety of settings including acute care, critical care, and—most notably—the emergency department. It was there that I witnessed the profound impact of untreated or under-supported mental health challenges, which deeply influenced my decision to specialize in psychiatric care.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in nursing from Adventist University and my master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from Wilkes University. I now practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care.

My clinical experience includes psychiatric evaluation, medication management, deprescribing, and geriatric psychiatry. I strive to focus on thoughtful, individualized treatment planning for each client.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and furry friends.
